This enabled the investors to place order, have control over the info and can hit the order online with his broker. Then the broker’s system verifies the authenticity of the client electronically and routes the order to the appropriate Exchange for execution. The execution and confirmation of the order on real time basis enables Investor to receive reports on margin requirement, payments and delivery obligations through the system, finally the client’s ledger and portfolio account get updated online.

To provide web-based access to investors to trade directly on the Exchange, the NSE facilitated the internet/online trading in early February 2000. The investor’s orders are routed through the Internet to the trading terminal of the designated broker and further to the Exchange for trade execution.
