To meet settlement obligations of a trade member who defaulted or failed to repay the outstanding amounts; this Fund is utilized to the extent required for the settlement, this fund eliminated counter party risk of trading on the Exchange. This settlement guarantee mechanism strengthened the system by settling the issues in time irrespective of defaults by trading members. This Fund became an important element in facilitating the settlement process as self-insurance mechanism.

This Settlement Guarantee Mechanism funded through the contributions of trading members, transaction charges, penalty amounts, fines etc. and recovered by NSCCL.

A part of the cash deposit and the entire security deposit of every clearing member at the Exchange shall be routed as initial contribution towards the Settlement Guarantee Fund.
